Our Story
The Nurse Shop was originally founded in January 2009 and we were called the nursestuff.com.au, by an emergency nurse, Glen Riverstone. Glen is the founder of Snapit and the elitecare Classic Unisex Scrubs which nurses love and still our best seller.
During Glen’s post graduate year as a Registered Nurse in Emergency, he encountered the all-too-common sharps injury from glass ampoules. “I remember asking other staff who said it is just part of the job. I researched this further to discover it was one of the leading causes of sharps injuries in the hospital. I thought a safety device could solve the problem and be a great business opportunity.” Fast forward and the SnapIT Ampoule Opener was invented, winning the People’s Choice Award on the ABC New inventors in 2007. It is now sold in over 15 countries.
In a bid to market the Snapit, Glen started an online venture which has developed into eNurse Pty Ltd on the 15th of September 2010. Always looking at what nurses needed, he expanded his range to include Clinical Reference Cards, Equipment, Accessories, and Shoes. From here Glen wanted to make comfortable, hard-wearing scrubs in many colours and different lengths to suit all nurses. He spent months testing his scrubs on nurses to find the perfect fit. His elitecare Classic range was born, and this is still The Nurse Shop’s signature line.

The Nurse Shop is now Australia’s leading online shop for nurses. Our passion hasn’t changed to make nurses life better, both at work and at home. It’s this passion which drives us to continuously look at our products and introduce new items that will be of interest to nurses of all modalities, and our purpose is to brighten every nurse’s day.

We have a fantastic purchaser with over 40 years’ experience in the textile industry and he sources products all over the world and takes the time to visit every factory.

Sustainability
Our goal is to step lighter on the planet. We are busy ensuring that most of our items will have sustainable packaging. This is a work in progress, with current packaging for Australia Post being biodegradable.
We are working with our suppliers to ensure that packaging is biodegradable too. We will keep you updated with our progress.
